Lone Star Park is a Grand Prairie, Texas, horse racing track and entertainment center. Lone Star Park stands on 315 acres, and the race track has both a one-mile dirt oval and a 7-furlong turf track. It can accommodate a considerable 1,600 horses in the 32 barns it sports. The grandstand itself has a seating capacity for approximately 8 thousand spectators.

Lone Star Park opened 1992 when the Grand Prairie residents approved a ½ cent sales tax, which was to be earmarked to assist in bonds in order to build a racetrack. The city then thought fit to create a sports authority called the Grand Prairie Sports Facilities Development Corp. This corporation would own the track and be in charge of leasing it to an appropriate operator.

Lone Star Park has two annual live racing seasons: the Spring Thoroughbred Season, which generally runs from April to July, and the Fall Meeting of Champions. The latter generally runs from September through November. Thoroughbred Races include the $200,000 Lone Star Park Handicap Grade III, and the $200,000 Texas Mile Stakes Grade III.

Also, Texas is well-known for a sizeable horse population and hence, the popularity of many different horse breeds. It is with these specifics in mind that half of the races at the Lone Star Park are set up for more than just thoroughbreds. They include races specifically for a quarter horse, Paint, Appaloosa, and Arabian.
