Turfway Park is a worthy addition to the American Thoroughbred circuit of horse racing tracks, located just outside the city of Florence Kentucky. It offers a Holiday meet, taking place in December and a Winter-Spring meet situated between the months of January and April. Turfway Park is also home to the famous Jeff Ruby Steaks, named after the Jeff Ruby Steakhouses franchise and it used to host the Kentucky Cup Day of Champions, intended as a preparation race ahead of the Breeders' Cup.

It first came to known as the Latonia Race Course, which opened in 1959, deriving its name from the nearby town of Latonia, Kentucky. Before its time, thoroughbred horse racing took place at a preceding Latonia racetrack, which hosted horse racing competitions between 1883 and 1939, when it was finally demolished. This older venue was also home to the Latonia Derby that matched the Kentucky Derby in importance and popularity.

Jerry Carroll purchased the installations in 1986, officially changing its name to Turfway Park. It is currently owned and operated by the Harrah's Entertainment conglomerate, alongside the Keeneland Association, both sharing half of Turfway Park's active stock.

Important changes took place during 2005, when Turfway Park introduced the novel Polytrack racing surface, composed of different fibers that include silica sand and wax, thus making it one of the fastest tracks in the United States, regardless of weather conditions. Turfway Park features a one-mile Polytrack turf with 6 and half furlong chutes.
